An interesting blog I’ve been following for a while is written by Lucy Wright in her My Journey blog. She’s spent the past few months examining the different world religions and is discovering interesting things about them.
This blog, really is her journey.
I would say she’s going into each one with a very open mind and tries very hard to be impartial, which I think is very important. At the same time, it’s not that easy.
She started September in last year, and it’s a one year project. My not so secret wish is that she continues lol
Here is a tentative schedule that she’s running on:
October~Pagan/Wicca/Druid
November~Baha’i
December~Agnostic/Athiest
January~Buddhism
Febuary~Judaism
March~Islam
April~Hindu
May~Native American
June~Unitarian Universalist
July~Spiritualist
August~Catholic
September~Christianity
If this seems appealing, maybe it’s worth while to see what she’s doing every now and then?

Thanks for sharing Lucy’s blog. I didn’t condense my journey into a year’s time as she has, but I have at various times studied most of the religions she has on her itinerary. Seems to run in the family. My brother at one time was practicing in the Baha’i tradition and my sister is a currently practicing Wiccan. What seems to be happening, in spite of CNN reports to the contrary, is a surge in Seekers, those of us who may claim to be part of a “religion” but essentially are ecumenical in our approach. We see the common themes in all the great spiritual movements. To paraphrase Hillel (a Jewish rabbi, I believe): The main teaching is “What is hateful to thyself, do not do to another. That is the whole Law; the rest is commentary.”
I think Lucy practices wiccan, if I remember correctly. I’ve studied a little bit of everything too, but honestly I don’t know very much about religions, Buddhism included.
I like that quote, I’ll chew on that for a while. Thanks for sharing =D
