From December 31, 2011 – January 10, 2012, HH Dalai Lama will be giving teachings and conferring the Kalachakra Tantra in Bodhgaya India. Bodhgaya is one of the holy Buddhist pilgrimage sites where the Buddha manifested enlightenment.

From Dec 31 – Jan 2, HH and the monks from his personal monastery, Namgyal, will be doing the rituals and ceremonies to consecreate the area. From January 5 -7, he’ll teach on Kamalashila’s Middling States of the Meditation (Gomrim), and two great and well known mind training texts. These are primarily Togmey Sangkpo’s 37 Practices of Bodhisattvas, and Geshe Langri Tangpa’s 8 Verses of Mind Transformation. He’ll also teach on Nagarjuna’s The Praise to the World Trascedent.
The actual initiation will be conferred on Jan 7-9, and a long life empowerment will be done for His Holiness on Jan 10, 2012.
His Holiness is giving the Kalachakra earlier in July in Washington DC for world peace. He last bestowed the Kalachakra in Bodhgaya in 2003.

Commitments
Kalachakra can be taken as a blessing without commitments. If the actual initiation is taken, it would require keeping refuge vows, bodhisattva vows, and tantric vows. Someone would also have to do the 6 Session Guru Yoga practice everyday.
