Today is the celebration of Saka Dawa, one of the most holy days in Buddhism. It celebrates the birth, death, and enlightenment of the Buddha. Its believed that doing meritorious activities in this day increases in magnitude, and the following are general, beneficial practices that someone could do today:

  • Taking the Mahayana Precepts
  • Doing Nyung Ne
  • Doing Shakyamuni Guru Puja
  • Any other meritorious practice

In this video by Venerable Thubten Chodron, she explains why the Buddha engaged in spiritual practice, helping in giving a good motivation for engaging in practice on Saka Dawa.
